June 26,2010 was a great day for P.T.C.
It was on this day that P.T.C.s hometown of Durham,Ontario Canada.celebrated it's return, and to host
the ever Ride-A-Long,in the area the car came from.
Last year,at almost this time, the talk was of a tornado, that ravaged the community.
This year the local citizens where talking about their
special race car that was making international news.
Thanks to Chief Rene Berger,West Grey Police Service, and
Fire Chief Phil Schwartz,of West Grey Fire Service.
With their assistance,I took the wheel of the P.T.C. car,
and was escorted through the streets of this wonderful little community in rural Ontario.
The P.T.C. convoy also include the Pace Truck from Sauble
Speedway.
The purpose of the convoy was to move the car from one
location in town to the site of P.T.C.s 26th Ride-A-Long,
located at the Durham Community Arena.
P.T.C. would like to THANK the arena staff, and Angi Becker of the Durham Lions Club, for the great job setting up the parking lot for the huge number of riders with
special needs who braved the heavy rain showers to have a ride in the P.T.C. car.
Some had travelled from as far away as Exeter, and Meaford
Ontario.A good hours drive,in one direction.
The Ride-A-Long,also featured the area's mayor,Mayor Kevin
Eccles behind the wheel.Along with him,a long time supporter of P.T.C.,and news reporter Chris Clark of the
Mount Forest Confederate,(Ont,Can)
As a resident of Durham,(2 years),it was a very special
treat for me to share my concept, and the support of ALL
my friends,to this great community.
My deepest THANKS! to the many drivers from Sauble
Speedway who helped, along with Jason Thom, track owner.
THANK YOU!,Dale McArthur, and Wendy Bye (Varney Speedway)
for bringing your very dear son Wyatt, for his first ride
in the car while in his wheelchair.
To the 100% of the ALL the shops, and stores in Durham,
I am most grateful for your tremendous support,by way of donations.
God Bless you ALL!

14/06: A LEGEND takes a SEAT
I have had many people ask about a picture that appears
on the "home page",of Project Track Champion's w/site,and
a huge picture which is part of P.T.C's "static" display.
The picture of interest is the one in which NASCAR legend
Rusty Wallace #2 is seen sitting in the drivers seat of
the P.T.C. car.
This picture of Mr.Wallace was taken on the afternoon
of January 16,2010. The location was the CPT RACING
EXPERIENCE,London Ontario,Canada.
The photo was taken by a CPT staff member.
As P.T.C.'s concept creator.I was most delighted to share
the car,and it's purpose with Mr.Wallace.
I would like to THANK Jory Elliott.(son of "Bogus" Bob
Elliott),for introducing Mr.Wallace to me.
While in the company of Rusty Wallace,I was very aware
that he was deeply moved by the cars appearance, and more-
so it's purpose.
When he asked who helped me in the construction,I recall
responding by saying,...."the good Lord, and friends".
At that,Mr Wallace introduced me to a friend of his who had made the trip with him to the show.
It was while we where both standing beside the open door
on the drivers side, that a memorable scene happened.
It was a moment that he himself created, as only he could do.
Without any prompting,or suggestion by anyone in the immediate area,he turned to me,and offered the following
words in the form of a request.
Quote:"I wonder, would it be at all possible for me to be allowed the opportunity to seat in the drivers seat of
this amazing car"?
At first,I was not sure if I had heard him correctly.
But,one thing is sure,.... no one objected.
Once Rusty was seated in the drivers seat, one thing was
clearly noted. His big smile was an indication to all.
That like the many other drivers who sat in the same seat,... that he thought it was truly "Kool",to be seating
in the P.T.C. car.
Upon exiting,he made the comment,...."this must be such a
thrill for so many people".
Mr.Rusty Wallace,...Sir!,..YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!
THANK YOU! for your time with us,and God Bless.
I would like to point out that there have been others
of NASCAR who I have had the extreme priviledge to share
the story of P.T.C. with.
To date I have been honoured to share the car with,...
Mr.Bobby Allison,Mr.Ron Fellows,Mr.Ken Schrader,
Mr.Chris Economaki,
and Mr.Timothy Booth of Michican International Speedway
I can say, each expressed words of congratulations, and best
wishes to all involved with P.T.C.

13/06: SUCCESS is " ACCESS"
Project Track Champion came about as the result of one persons idea to make racing more accessible.
As we all have come to know, one of the ways to make this
possible was by way of P.T.C.'s fully accessible race car.
P.T.C. came about on it's own.No one instructed anyone that there was a law in place, that stated P.T.C. must
exist,or face the consequences.
In the near future, such will not be the same for speedway owners of Ontario.
If you are a speedway owner, with a facility(s)in the province of Ontario.
You will need to know that measures to insure that the province will be "barrier free" for those with special
needs / disabilities,are underway,and will include you.
The provincial governments program is called "ACCESS ON"
P.T.C. not only fully supports the program,(now in year 5)
But is in a position to lend support where ever it can.
It is the governments goal to have ALL public used facilities wheelchair accessible, and "user friendly" by the year 2025.
Project Track Champion incourages ALL track owners to
be aware of the NEW measures, and how they will apply to you,the owner.
HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS
1) Become familiar with the program by checking w/site.
www.access.on
2) Funding is available. The Trillium Foundation is a
possibility.
P.T.C. would suggest you contact your local member
of parliament, and note your intentions to him/her.
They may be able to expedite your application.
3) The new rulings as laid out by the government in
respects to "accessibility" are rigid, and will be
strictly inforced.
To avoid being caught up in such a situation, and
insuring your access features are correct.
You may wish to obtain information from your local
municipality,building inspector.
4) In order to save money, and cut corners.
A speedway owner may decide to make "accessibility
features",based on "self interpretation" of such, and
make the changes as they may feel to be acceptable.
P.T.C. WOULD INCOURAGE YOU NOT TO COMMENCE WITH ANY
CHANGES UNTIL SUCH TIME THEY HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY
A CERTIFIED AUTHORITY.
WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT,SUCH WILL BE PAYING YOU A
VISIT PRIOR TO 2025.
5) In order for you,to have a real clear understanding
as to what "barriers" your quest with disabilities
deal with at your race facility.
Borrow a wheelchair for the day,and use it at your
speedway as they would.
You may be quick to discover why they,or their many
friends, do not visit your track,or promote it.
Heaven forbid, someday you, or a loved one may
actually require one.
6) THE GOVERNMENT MAY NOT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS:
In order to make your quest with disabilities feel
"AT HOME" at your speedway.
Listen closely to them. They may just have an idea
to improve your facility, making their visit a
memorable one.
BUT,MAKE SURE FIRST THAT THEIR IDEA WILL NOT LEAD
TO LEGAL ISSUES FOR YOU LATER DOWN THE LINE.
7) WASHROOMS:
For those with disabilities, washrooms are an issue.
To have a clear understanding as to what they often
incounter.
Place yourself in a wheelchair, and pretend you have
to use your washroom facilities,
Lets assume you require assistance from an aid.
You may wish to ask your spouse to be your assistant.
Upon arriving at your washrooms, you become aware of a
an awkward situation.
You will have to decide which washroom you use.
If the spouse for example is the wife assisting.
Does she take you into the LADIES,or the MENS room?
THE RESTROOMS OF TO-DAY FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES
WHO REQUIRE ASSISTANCE ARE CALLED,.......
"FAMILY USER FRIENDLY WASHROOMS"
NOTE MOST COMMON "PORTABLES",(washrooms)DESIGNED FOR
THOSE WITH DISABILITIES,...DO NOT...HAVE ENOUGH ROOM
FOR A PERSON WITH DISABILITIES,THEIR ASSISTANT,AND
WHEELCHAIR.
THE FAMILY USER FRIENDLY RESTROOMS IS THE ANSWER.
FOOD for THOUGH:
You as a speedway owner may feel that the provincial
governments agenda towards accessibility is only
a "money grab",and historical low numbers of those
with special needs/disabilities at your "front gate"
does not warrant,or justify the expected costs to
make the neccesary changes.
CONSIDER THIS:
When a person with disabilities finds the washroom(s)
at your speedway neither accessible,or user friendly.
How then would it be different should you visit an
auto dealership with the purpose of buying a car.
Only to discover that ALL the vehicles for sale are
missing a motor.
If the dealer has a history of trying to sell vehicles
without a motor.
I wonder how many people would show up at the front
door of that dealership?
Project Track Champion is more than just a car with
wheelchair accessibility.
P.T.C. is also here to lend you the speedway owner any
assistance we can.
P.T.C. stands ready to help our provincial speedways

P.T.C. stands ready to help our provincial speedways
find SUCCESS by way of ACCESS.
Our office has received news that Sauble Speedway has
began to take measures to insure a better tomorrow for
ALL.
Jason & Aimee Thom,(owners)have began to initiate the steps required to make Sauble Speedway, wheelchair
accessible, and "family user friendly",for ALL people.
The changes will include new ramps, observation decks on
the front stretch, and "family user washroom".
The Thoms have indicated there is much work to be done.
BUT,are fully aware of the need for the additions.
Both feel the work to be done is based on a spirit of
repect, and a conviction to reach out to those of the
surrounding community.
This was their choice rather thsan to wait until the province serves he and his wife measures to do so,
as laid out by the "ACCESS ONTARIO ACT",now underway.
If you are one who may feel you could help the track in anyway to insure a quick way to the tracks "accessible"
future.
P.T.C. invites you to call the speedway office.

12/06: 15 YEARS and COUNTING DOWN
In our travels around the province we have noted few speedways have made attempts to make their respective facilities" wheelchair accessible".
P.T.C. has taken the stand to support the province of
Ontario's,ACCESS ONTARIO plans towards an accessible
Ontario,by 2025,....15 years away.
PLEASE NOTE:
IF YOU ARE A SPEEDWAY OWNER. DO NOT DELAY IN CONTACTING
YOUR LOCAL MUNICIPALITY OFFICE FOR ASSISTANCE IN MATTERS
SURROUNDING THE PROVINCES NEW INITIATIVES,WHICH HAVE BEEN
UNDER WAY FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS.
By 2011,ALL MUNICIPLE OFFICES,(by law)WILL BE WHEELCHAIR
ACCESSIBLE.ALL HAVE A STAFF MEMBER(S) APPOINTED TO HELP
YOU.
TO DELAY IN THESE MATTERS,MAY PROVE COSTLY TO YOU AS AN OWNER / OPERATOR.
NON-COMPLIANCE MEASURES WILL BE STRICTLY INFORCED.
My question is this.
Do we in the world of racing need to be told to make our
sport more accessible.
Or would we not be willing to do it,without promting,or inforced rules.
Simply because,we know the importance of doing the RIGHT
THING,for it's the RIGHT THING to do.?
Personal Observation:
I firmly feel that if ALL track owners in Ontario where to
take measures to insure their speedways where accessible
without much delay, that one thing is sure.
The world of racing in Ontario can stand proud as leaders
in the entertainment industry in respects to making our
world a better place for ALL people.
On occasion we have met speedway owners who feel their speedway is wheelchair accessible.(some even promote their facilities are accessible, when in fact they are not).
I can assure you. Should your claim be correct.
That in a province with 1.85 million individuals with special needs, your track must be a true success story.
Your bleachers must be straining to hold the many hundereds of spectators from ALL OVER the PROVINCE,with
special needs, and EVERY night is a total sell-out.
There must be hordes of media ,and care centre reps from distant communities in attendance each race night.
You probably also have a staff member who is there to
answer question(s),and is familiar with "sign language".
Also your VIP rooms must be full of sales reps from those
of the manufacturing sector,of the world of special needs.
The multi-billion dollar industry,is looking for venues
to promote their services, from walking canes to transporters.
You must have "class sponsors" from the disability, commercial sector, WHO CAME KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR,with the purpose of gladly being a track sponsor.
If such is the case.
Then your track made racing history,by being the first
speedway in Ontario to be recognized as being fully
wheelchair accessible, and meets all government standards.
To our knowledge, such a speedway has yet to claim all of
the above can be found at it's facility.
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR,and FOR THE SAKE OF THOSE WITH
SPECIAL NEEDS,and the ELDERLY,..........
"DO NOT",.. I REPEAT,..."DO NOT" PROMOTE YOUR SPEEDWAY AS
WHEEL-CHAIR ACCESSIBLE,IF IN FACT IT IS NOT !!!!!
We note many tracks promote their race programs as,...
" FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY ".
OBSERVATION:
IF your speedway is not wheelchair accessible, then such
an invitation would only be applicable to families not
having a loved one with disabilities.
Just think,if your speedway was wheelchair accessible, and
"user friendly" by All people.
You could promote your race program as,.........
" FUN FOR ALL PEOPLE,and FAMILIES "
THEY DO NOT FORGET.
REMEMBER,YOUR "FRONT GATE" WILL ONLY SEE THEIR FACES ONCE,IF YOUR MESSAGE TO THEM IS NOT FOR THEIR GAIN,BUT YOURS.
DO NOT LET "FRONT GATE" NUMBERS FOOL YOU.
A NON-ACCESSIBLE FACILITY WILL YIELD A VERY FEW IN NUMBERS
WITH SPECIAL NEEDS,(DISABILITIES),AT FRONT GATES.
CONSIDER THIS:
FOR EVERYONE WITH A DISABILITY WHO ENTER YOUR FRONT GATE
REPRESENTS A MUCH GREATER NUMBER FROM THE AREA THEY ARE FROM.
MOST ARE "CLIENTS" OF AGENCIES WITH NUMBERS THAT WOULD
ASTOUND YOU.

12/06: P.T.C. CAR #2 UP-DATE
For over 2 years there has been much talk about P.T.C. car #2.
Although most race cars can be built in a short while, car #2 has taken a while to build, due to available time by it's builders.
The car is under construction at Royal Auto Body, located
in Kitchener,Ontario.
I am pleased to report, that my long-time friend, Tony Novotny,(CASCAR founder) of Performance Fiberglass Products. Delaware,Ontario.is now involved with the project. P.F.P. is also a huge supporter of P.T.C.
With Tony on the construction team, one can be sure that the car will be amazing when completed.
The car was a former full competitive late model.
The challenge, will be to construct fully operational
doors on both sides.
The purpose of doors is to again make the car very
"ACCESSIBLE" for ALL people.
This concept vehicle should prove to be of great value to the world of racing,as it continues to reach out to those
with special needs.
The drivers seat will be on a power seat adjuster.
This feature will make it possible for drivers, and the
general public,easy access.
The drivers will be able to position themselves with the steering wheel,as their size dictates.
As for the passenger seat. The car will feature a unique
multi-level,multi-directional,power seat.
The seat designed for those with special needs was donated
by GoldlineMobility and Conversions.London,Ontario.
Once finished, the car will truly be a very unique vehicle,
and indeed in a class of it's own.
P.T.C. appreciates the support of ALL involved with this
project.
Yours Truly
Denny

The drivers will be able to position themselves with the steering wheel,as their size dictates.
As for the passenger seat. The car will feature a unique
multi-level,multi-directional,power seat.
The seat designed for those with special needs was donated
by GoldlineMobility and Conversions.London,Ontario.
Once finished, the car will truly be a very unique vehicle,
and indeed in a class of it's own.
P.T.C. appreciates the support of ALL involved with this
project.

10/06: P.T.C. and SUNSET SPEEDWAY
We have had inquiries regarding a return visit to SUNSET
SPEEDWAY.
P.T.C. has had great success at this speedway, and look
forward to a return visit.
I am aware that the speedway has done MUCH in the way of making the facility more wheel-chair accessible.
P.T.C. congratulates Sunset Speedway for the efforts it has taken to MAKE'N RACE'N more "accessible".
Wednesday ,June 9. I placed a call through to Mark Dilley
of Sunset Speedway, and he noted a visit would be wonderful.
P.T.C.,will be making a presentation there later this year
Stay tuned for P.T.C.'s 3rd visit.
Thank You! Sunset Speedway for your great support.

THANKS! to our dear friend Bob Bannister / F/B creator
Once,and a while,I may take a peek at postings,and should
I make any comments. You will find them on this, our "News Blog" page.
I would like to respond to Mr.Larry Cameron's posting.
You will note he states, that he is unhappy about not
only matters surrounding his donation.
Included in his remarks Mr.Cameron also, makes reference to Varney Motor Speedway,as being
the "home track",of P.T.C.... at least he thought so,like so many others have.
Dear Larry
First of all,I would like to say, that even though you
may not be impressed as to where your donation went.
I would love to introduce you to 1350 P.T.C. riders
who are most impressed with your donation.
Dare I say, a lot of them would probably give you a big hug,in appreciation.
Now,in regards to Varney Motor Speedway.
In respects to the speedway being the "home track".
Firstly, the world of of racing is to-day regarded as the
"home" of Project Track Champion,(P.T.C.).
There was a time when the speedway did indeed have such a
title.
However, such was revoked from the speedway,at such time
it's support for P.T.C. terminated.
In light of this revelation,I submit the following info
as a measure of respect to the many wonderful people of
the speedway who helped to shed light on a concept.
But in the end,for some, where left in the dark.
Yes!,we do still,in our travels throughtout the province get asked the question.
"Why does the car not appear at the speedway"?
The answer is quit simple.
In June 2006,the car was completed. It only required
insurance,and wheelchair securement systems.
In spite of the fact these 2 components where missing,
it was decided to make a full blown public presentation
of P.T.C.,by way of a "grand unveiling".
Due to Varney Motor Speedway's support, and many drivers.
The speedway would be the first obvious choice.
Thus the process of offering the"FIRST RIGHT of REFUSAL"
was undertaken.
When offered the opportunity, more than once to be the host
of the grand unveiling.
The offers where turned down, each time.
When the speedway failed to make it's decisions known to
the drivers,Many knew such would create problems
To prevent such.I had made attempts to incourage the track to inform it's drivers of it's decisions.
But my requests went unheeded.
At about this time P.T.C.s lawyer,(name noted on home
page)was made aware of the situation, and was at the
ready should council be required.
Many associates,representatives,and sponsors(some having
international status) where made aware of this matter as well.
In time,my fears came into fruition, and the problems began
It was truly unfortunate, and could have been avoided.
Many drivers ,where caught up in a atmosphere of mixed feelings, uncertainty, finger pointing, and accusations,
which could be best described as slanderous.
Sadly, some of these feelings still exist to-day.
There are some staff members,I regard as friends.Still to-day,have a sense of remorse, for all that happened.
Indeed my heart goes out to them, for there where a couple
of them who gave much to P.T.C.
I would like to point out that there is one who did have
a role to play in those days,Mr.Doug Townsend.
I am glad to say, that in spite of his stand, and position
in respects to P.T.C. during those days.
That to-day we shake the hand of friendship whenever we
meet.
Things really began to swing out of control when the
speedway conducted a matter so extreme.
That it's impact is still circulating,even to-day.
It stems back to a notice posted on the speedway's web site,
The speedway made a claim that P.T.C.was unveiled at another speedway.
It deemed the action as,".... a slap in the face".
Sadly, those the concept was meant for, felt the "sting".
What followed was mass confusion because many drivers, and some staff knew the information was wrong.
The truth of the matter is this. The car was unveiled at a car show presented by the Highwaymen Car Club,Kitchener,
The TRACK KNEW of this, long before it had posted,on it's
web site,information of the contrary.
I'll briefly explain how the Highwaymen Car Club got involved.(Note:I have maintained close ties with this
club for over 30 years.See my "profile"on this site).
I had given the speedway plenty of time to make it's decision.
When time was running out,the track was informed, another candidate had stepped forward.
The speedway DID NOT DISPUTE the change to an alternate.
The track was even informed of the name of the new host, and the location of where the event would be conducted.
As a matter of fact a speedway official was present
at the unveiling.Which was captured on CTV tv.
I am often asked the question,...." what happened"?
The only sure thing I had received in person, from the track was, "..... we feel there is no time to present the car,and.... we are not in a position to receive all the media hype".
You may recall, the speedway's web site noted that, although it supported P.T.C. The tracks position was geared more around my involvement, and that it would possibly become more active, should I consider to resign.
Apparently, who ever posted that comment,is not aware that the title I hold as concept creator,is an inherited title.
Such does not come as a result of the more familiar democratic method, that being the process of voting,by ballad,or other.
Simply put,If this is indeed how Varney Motor Speedway
takes view of these matters. The P.T.C. car will once
again make an appearance, only after I have passed away,or the track is under new owner/management.
In our travels with P.T.C. I frequently speak of the speedway where it all started.
The reason is this.
Many of you will recall,a promise I had made before the
drivers of those days gone by.
That promise made was to promote the speedway, where ever, and when ever I could.
Sometimes I have mentioned Varney Motor Speedway, over
the PA systems of other speedways.
Promise made,promise kept.
Our prayer is,that some day soon,we will receive the call
to return, and with it the hopes and dreams of many in
the community for which the car was built for.
I do hope that this information, that although may be hard
to understand, may prove to be of comfort,to you,and all
at the speedway who gave to a wonderful gift.
God bless one,and all
Denny
NOTICE
This will be the ONLY time I will be making any comment
in respects to these matters.
This also applies to any other person(s)whose desire it is to discredit Project Track Champion.
It is soley my personal feelings, that an attack against
Project Track Champion,is an attack against those for
which it's purpose,and goals,was/is intended.

04/06: THE GIFT that keeps GIVING
Frequently we are asked the question,.....
" What keeps P.T.C. going, and operational costs covered.
From the very begining,P.T.C.has been able to sustain
it self by way of donations.
P.T.C.is not registered as a "non-profit",or business.
The reason is quite simple.
P.T.C. is regarded,promoted,and accepted as ,...
"a GIFT from the WORLD of RACING,to those with
disabilities"
P.T.C.'s view is,there are enough race fans who
would wish to support the cause,by giving to the "GIFT"
by way of a donation.
If every race in Ontario where to give even 1 dollar,($1)
each year. The accumalated amount generated would certainly
sustain,and keep P.T.C. moving ahead.
If you would like to be a "GIFT GIVER"
You may send your donation to:
PROJECT TRACK CHAMPION c/o Denny Snider
P.O. BOX 232,Durham Ont.Can. NOG 1RO
All donations $100 or more, are noted on P.T.C.'s
"GIFT GIVER" page on it's web site.
P.T.C.wishes to THANK the many 1000's who have given.
God Bless!

Without question,P.T.C.'s involvement with the world
of drag racing has proven to be,.... " a beautiful thing".
Many drag racing based web sites promote it's,(P.T.C.)
history making appearance at Toronto Motorsport Park,
May 21,at 11:25 AM.
It was here on that date. That a true Icon, and legend,
"Bogus" Bob Elliott made history as well.
It was Bob,who will be remembered as the very first
member of the drag racing family,to drive a car load of
passenger with special needs,on a 1/4 mile surface.
Later the P.T.C. car was piloted by,Melanie Simmons
of "Toyrific Racing". ( the first female driver to perform
the same memorable activity)
P.T.C. is most gratefull to the many web sites, who have
noted this great event on their respective sites.

02/06: WHO was that "TICKET LADY"
On Tuesday,June 2nd. I was on the phone, with our dear friend "Bogus"Bob Elliott.
He conveyed to me the wonderful time he had, giving rides
to those with special needs at Toronto Motorsport Park,
May 21,2010.
Bob shared with me that he was profoundly moved by it all.
He indicated to me that the opportunity to both drive the
car,and meeting it's special riders,would always remain
as a highlight in his life.
Bob shared with me,his meeting with one of the many riders
Apparently one of which, told him she at one time used to
hand him track "time/speed slips".
Bob could not recall her name.
If you are that person,or if you are one who knows this
person. We would love to hear from you.
We would love to hear about not only your ride with Bob.
But,maybe you have a story to share with us about him.
I look forward to a response.
